About
An Oklahoma Oasis
Springs, streams, lakes- whatever its form, water is the attraction at Chickasaw National Recreation Area. Little Niagara and Rock Creek beckon waders and swimmers. Relax in the coolness of shaded streams or take a dip in a swimming hole. Veterans Lake calls anglers to test their skills. Lake of the Arbuckles provides excellent motorboating, skiing, fishing and swimming.
Directions
From US I-35 drive through the towns of Davis and Sulphur to the intersection of State Highway 7 and 177. Drive south on Hwy. 177 and take the first left to the Travertine Nature Center. Park Headquarters is located at 901 W. 1st Street, Sulphur, Oklahoma.

A good starting place for visitors. It has brochures, exhibits, maps and helpful Rangers. Get information about lakes, camping, trails and special events.
Weather
Summers are hot and humid. Temperatures above 100ºF occur, and humidity often exceeds 50%. Winters are mild and prolonged freezes are rare. Thunderstorms are common April through July.
