Retribution or Revenge?

The 1847 attack on the Whitmans horrified Americans and impacted the lives of the peoples of the Columbia Plateau for decades afterwards. Was killing the Whitmans justified legal retribution, an act of revenge, or some combination of both? Airports are located in Walla Walla (11 miles east of park), Pasco (43 miles west), and Pendleton, Oregon (46 miles south). The site can be reached from US Highway 12, 8 miles east of Walla Walla, Wa.

The Whitman Mission Visitor Center has a museum, a 25 minute movie, and a hands-on cultural items area for children.

Weather

Summers are hot. Hats, water and sunblock are recommended. Winters are mild and rainy with a few snow storms. Layered clothing is advised.
